Speech Therapy Evaluations: What Happens & How to Get Started
What speech therapy services does Arizona Speech and Swallow Therapy offer?
We are an adults-only practice offering specialized, evidence-based speech therapy for swallowing disorders (dysphagia), voice disorders, aphasia, cognitive-communication impairment, motor speech disorders, stuttering, Parkinson's disease via the SPEAK OUT!® program, and accent modification coaching. Every client starts with a comprehensive evaluation and a fully personalized plan of care.
Do you offer the SPEAK OUT!® program for Parkinson's disease?
Yes. We are trained in the SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Program developed by Parkinson Voice Project. This research-based program helps people with Parkinson's and related disorders regain and retain speech and swallowing function, including vocal volume, articulation, breath support, vocal quality, and intonation. The program combines individual therapy, group practice, and daily home exercises and is designed as a lifelong approach to maintaining communication.
What is aphasia and do you treat it?
Aphasia is a language disorder, most commonly caused by stroke or brain injury, that affects a person's ability to speak, understand, read, and write. It does not affect intelligence, and it does not define what is possible. Our Scottsdale speech pathologists specialize in aphasia treatment for adults, providing individualized, evidence-based therapy designed to restore meaningful communication and independence in everyday life. We understand how isolating aphasia can feel for both patients and families, which is why our approach goes beyond clinical exercises, we focus on real-life communication that matters to you. Medicare accepted for in-clinic and telehealth sessions. In-home concierge visits available for private pay patients.
Do you treat swallowing disorders (dysphagia)?
Yes. Swallowing therapy is one of our core specialties. Dysphagia can cause coughing, choking, aspiration, or pneumonia and can significantly affect nutrition and quality of life. We provide customized care to improve swallowing function, strengthen swallowing muscles, and teach safe techniques for everyday meals. Caregiver education is included when needed.
Do you offer voice therapy for adults in Scottsdale?
Yes. We provide professional voice therapy for adults experiencing hoarseness, vocal fatigue, reduced projection, strain, or pitch concerns. Using evidence-based techniques, we address breath support, resonance, pitch, and vocal stamina. Whether you are a professional speaker, singer, teacher, or simply want a stronger and healthier voice, each session is built around your specific goals.
Do you treat stuttering in adults?
Yes. We offer specialized, individualized stuttering therapy for adults focused on fluency techniques, speech coordination, rate control, and building confidence in real-life speaking situations, including professional settings, social interactions, and public speaking.
How does the therapy process work?
Every client follows our four-step process: a comprehensive evaluation to identify your challenges and goals; a personalized treatment plan built around your needs and lifestyle; ongoing communication and support throughout your care; and a structured home exercise program to reinforce progress between sessions. We do not discharge you until all of your goals are met, and you leave with a clear maintenance plan for long-term success.
